Histamine is a biogenic amine that is involved in a a number of biologic reactions, including immune response, especially that of an inflammatory response. Histamine release is a mediator of an allergic response. When histamine is released as a results of a certain trigger, it may in some cases cause hives, itching, headache, diarrhea or even anaphylactic shock.
